YOUR LIFE A-Z:MEEK

                                              MEEK

Controlled Strength...Be Who You Are
MEEK is a word that showed up on my personal Facebook recently.  I then realized how misunderstood the word MEEK is.   Jesus reportedly said in Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the MEEK because they shall inherit the earth.”  The Greek meaning of the word MEEK, means, “strength under control.”  It does not mean anything like the uneducated connotations people place on it today, such as weak, sissy, or spineless.  Remember, King Herod was supposed to be powerful and in control of his kingdom, but he slaughtered innocent children because of his insecurity and anxiety.  MEEK people are curious.  A MEEK person comes to the table to see what he/she can do to serve and make things better because he/she knows that problems need to be resolved not slaughtered.  MEEK people are not just humble they are powerful and intelligent.  If you were to inherit the earth, how would you go about making the necessary changes needed for peace to be possible?  When does your family need controlled strength to help heal a negative family situation?  You can sit back passively and wait for the holiday season to be over, or you can practice MEEKNESS this holiday season and actually begin to change the negative energy that might show up during this time of celebration and magic.  MEEKNESS reminds us to let go of angry control and relax into letting each person be his/her own unique self.  You don’t need to be the judge.  Let go and practice being MEEK in the true sense of the word.

YOUR LIFE A-Z:TRUST

WISDOM WATCHES AND LISTENS

TRUST

TRUST is an assured reliance on someone or something that is dependable, honest, forthright, and strong according to the dictionaries that abound.  In our Western culture we loosely have it on our coins but no one really knows why anymore and it does seem so trite.  TRUST is precious and should not be given lightly because when someone breaks your TRUST, a wound is created inside of you that when it heals it heals with a scar that carries a story.  That unfortunate story becomes a memory that overshadows true TRUST in the future.  Thus, I would say TRUST is conditional and must be granted based on history of integrity, honesty, and actions that match the words coming out of someone else’s mouth.  However, much more important to the TWENTY MINUTE COACH is self TRUST.  Do you TRUST yourself?  Do your actions match the words coming out of your mouth?  Does your heart agree with your head?  Are you congruent in the way that you deal with the world around you, especially your loved ones?
The hard work of TRUST starts with you.  If you do not TRUST yourself, then you will never TRUST someone else.  I work with people who are suspicious, paranoid, and afraid.  When we get to the root of his/her issue the bottom line is that he/she does not TRUST his/her self.  They keep reporting that they let themselves down all the time by not doing what he/she says they will do.  TRUST yourself in just one thing and then add to it from there

YOUR LIFE A-Z HONEST

A MUST READ FOR PERSONAL HONESTY

HONEST

In the word Effort I spoke about being HONEST with yourself. The word HONEST is more than not lying, stealing, or cheating.  HONEST implies congruence between ones actions and words and how one actually lives his/her day-to-day life.  When I asked the question are you being HONEST with yourself, it is a bold question inviting you to soul search your motive for your Effort.  Is the Goal you set in the last word, really what you want or is it a “should” imposed on you from your inner judge; society at large; a family member; or friend?  If the Goal is not yours and you are forging ahead with it, I promise you that you will fail or even if you succeed you will not enjoy the positive energy of succeeding.  More than likely you will feel underwhelmed and joyless at your accomplishment.  Why?  Because it was not your Goal.  You achieved it for someone else. They may be ecstatic and joyful for you, but you are thinking, “what’s next, now what do I have to do to win your approval?“  Give yourself permission to be HONEST, very congruent with your GOAL.  If it is not your desire, toss it, at least for now.  Maybe once you give yourself permission to toss it then you will Discover that there is a larger percentage than not that also wants this GOAL.  You will not be able to answer that question with the naked HONEST truth until you give yourself permission to toss that which does not come from your inner most self.

YOUR LIFE A-Z:GENEROUS

THE EARTH BLESSES US WITH GENEROUS VIEWS

GENEROUS
There is some science to the fact that more generous people are happier than stingy, self-serving folks. Being generous means to give more of something than what is expected.  It does not have to be money. It can be time, your presence, your kindness, even your smile to someone in distress. So, in this Twenty-Minute Coaching Blog ask yourself the honest question about your own generous nature.  How have you been generous this week?  What acts do you consider generous?  If you are suffering with “unhappiness” perhaps you need to examine how you can increase your happiness by increasing your generosity?  While you are examining your generous nature with others it is more important to ask yourself, how generous are you with yourself?  If you are walking around being critical of yourself and bullying your actions, thoughts, and feelings by negative voices within, I can bet you are not happy.  Constant negativity breaks down our immune system, and creates health and emotional problems that are completely unnecessary if you learn to be kind and generous with yourself. After all, aren’t you doing the best you can?  If not, then put some energy into changing the things that you don’t like and learn to love what you accomplish, verses what is left undone.  Focusing on the positive will make you happier and as a result you will be more generous by nature.  In the meantime practice being generous everyday this month with acts of kindness, presence, time, and positive attitude.
