YOUR LIFE A-Z:RESILIENCE

IN THE CENTER YOU WILL RESILIENCE

RESILIENCE

RESILIENCE is the ability to bounce back from difficult situations. Practicing peace builds RESILIENCE.  RESILIENCE is what humans need to make it through life. Life will throw curves balls all the time.  You may take a swing or two but remember you get three swings before you are out.  RESILIENCE keeps you coming back and analyzing a situation, looking at it from many different vantage points.  Then you learn to ask yourself questions.  One question is, “what can I do differently here?”  It is easy to get into a rut of doing the same old thing to solve the same old problems.  RESILIENCE allows you to try different swings at the curve balls of life.  Think about coming at your situation by going around the problem instead of going straight at it.  Consider going under or over a problem rather than straight at the problem.  RESILIENCE, bouncing back requires a spring within your being that allows you to get up when you have been knocked down again. Maybe it is important to take lessons from a boxer to understand how to learn to be RESILIENT.  Boxers get knocked down for a living.  Boxers get up to win.  You have to get up every time you find yourself knocked down in order to build RESILIENCE.  Many people are RESILIENT to germs because he/she exposes herself to germs in order to build up RESILIENCE.  RESILIENCE can be built and developed.  You are the only one can decide if you can get up again.  RESILIENCE is up to you.

YOUR LIFE A-Z: TOLERANCE

GENTLENESS IS TOLERANCE

TOLERANCE

TOLERANCE is an attitude of acceptance.  TOLERANCE is also an exercise in being resilient.  Your body must learn to build TOLERANCE especially to foreign materials such as transplants or allergens.  TOLERANCE by its very nature is an un-comfortableness that requires that we adjust our attitude, behavior or body in some way to accommodate differences.   When we were children we saw the world through the eyes of the adults around us and adapted many of those adults believes and attitudes toward the world.  But as we grew up perhaps we realized that how the adults in our lives reacted to women, people or color or certain ways of doing things did not really fit for us.  We may have also learned that when we disagreed with an adults perception of how things are, we were belittled.  We experienced that having a different opinion was not TOLERATED.  Thus, learning at a young age what we would TOLERATE and not TOLERATE became a life lesson.  Perhaps we believed it was unbearable to experience a parent’s disgust at us thus we learned to adapt to his or her believe system to remain safe.  Or, perhaps we figured out at a young age sharing our believe system was not safe until we moved out of the house, but once that happened we practiced TOLERANCE toward others that believed or looked differently than we do.  TOLERANCE is something that we must exercise and acquire as a daily practice in order for us to live safely and peacefully.  Really, what good is it to flip off the person who cuts you off in traffic?   Practice TOLERANCE.

YOUR LIFE A-Z:TOUGH

DON'T MESS WITH ME!

TOUGH

Get TOUGH.  Build a sense of resilience to bounce back from life’s obstacles and difficulties.  As you know life is full of them and we cannot allow life to throw us down the chute into defeat.  Get up, dust off and go back to your desire, goal, or dream and accomplish it. It is okay to cry and then wipe away the snot and start all over again.  Be TOUGH enough to withstand arduous situations and people who hurt your feelings.  You can be TOUGH.  Lazy people are not TOUGH.  You can TOUGHEN up and overcome life’s hardships.  Ground Zero is something all of us can learn from.  The enemy might take out the structure, kill and harm those in the area at that moment, but we will overcome all of that and start over at Ground Zero, because we are TOUGH.  Mary J. Blige sings these words in The Living Proof in the movie the help, “it is gonna be a long long journey, it’s gonna be an uphill climb, it’s gonna be a tough fight, there’s gonna be some lonely nights, but I’m ready to carry on.”  Get TOUGH and carry on.  Get your climb on, so what if it is TOUGH?  It may make you want to quit.  We all feel that way from time to time, but just because you want to quit does not mean that you quit.  Get TOUGH and get on with your life.  Stop whining and be TOUGH.
