YOUR LIFE A-Z: EMOTION

GET IN TOUCH WITH YOURSELF
EMOTION
·       Affect is the innate, biological response to the increasing, decreasing or persistent intensity of neural firing. This results in a particular feeling, facial and body display, and skin changes. Affects feel rewarding, punishing, or neutral in their own ways. Affect makes things urgent.
·       Awareness of an affect is a feeling.
·       A feeling plus memory of prior similar feelings is an emotion. (From www.Tomkins.org)

EMOTION is at the heart of your positive and negative existence and it springs from a complexity of biological wiring that makes us who we are.   If you are feeling flat about your current life situation then it is possible emotions have become scary to you and you are unconsciously working hard not to feel.  EMOTIONS are scary when we have been shamed for EMOTIONAL expression in the past.  Have you ever had the experience of an EMOTION and found yourself curious as to why you would feel that certain way?  That EMOTION is full of information about something in your memory bank that is currently not consciously available to you.  Healthy people have a wide range of EMOTION and are EMOTIONALLY available to his/herself and others.  EMOTION is the spice of life and without a wide range of EMOTION then life becomes dull and boring.  Invite your EMOTIONS to have expression in your daily life. Color your EMOTIONS. Write your EMOTIONS.  Journal an EMOTIONAL letter to yourself or someone you care deeply about. Explore your EMOTIONS and flex your EMOTIONS to change the daily landscape of your life.

YOUR LIFE A-Z: TALK

TALK IS SO IMPORTANT!
TALK

Do you TALK enough?  When you TALK what do you TALK about it?  To TALK is to communicate with words and TALK can take place at many levels.  TALK can be chitchat, which comprises of words that are platitudes and connections at the same time.  If you  don’t chitchat then you will  probably never advance toward a deep meaningful TALK with someone else.   Then there is informational TALK.  That level of TALK is about sharing necessary information on a need to know basis.  Using words to express your thoughts and feelings is an important skill to learn and to practice.  TALK is the language of connecting and getting around in the word.  Without TALK no conversations take place and the world can become a lonely and isolated place.  Conversations are necessary for us as humans and TALK  is essential for connected intimate relationships.  Your interpersonal relationships require TALK on both the chitchat and on a deep meaningful level.  Don’t ignore the relationships next to you.  Tend to those relationships like a beautiful garden,  fertilize them with daily TALK.   Small words such as, “I love you;” “How was your day?;”  or even a wink across the room can be the TALK that keeps the relationship garden flourishing.  All gardens require weeding and that requires some difficult TALK.  It is important to be able to tell your relationships what you like and what you don’t like.  Maybe you don’t want pansies in your garden,  then you need to TALK about that too.  Connect today with a TALK within all of your relationships.

YOUR LIFE A-Z:XYLASTIC

EXPRESSION TRANSFORMED INTO MUSIC

XYLASTIC
XYLASTIC is a product that covers areas that need to be waterproofed.  XYLASTIC keeps the water from penetrating through areas and damaging the underlying structure.  As humans, we often wear our emotions and reactions on our sleeve, spit them out of our mouth, or show them too readily on our face.  Emotions are emotions, a blend of your biology and your feelings.  When Weaning away from some of your less mature choices and actions, XYLASTIC may come in handy.  Practice thinking before you speak and pondering the whole picture before you react.  Waterproofing your emotions is an adult action that allows you to maintain adult behavior and composure.  Your emotions are yours and are not necessarily anyone else’s business.  Just because you are feeling something does not mean you have to share it.  Practice not allowing other people’s opinions or words to seep deep into your soul. Other people can have differing opinions but that does not make your opinions wrong. Other people have a right to voice or express themselves even if they are rude.  You can use your voice to say, “I find that statement offensive (or rude).”  That is different than allowing your anger to spike and spew out emotional words like, “I can’t believe you are so damn insensitive.”  The first statement takes ownership and uses an “I” statement.  “I find that statement offensive is a fact.  It is neither a feeling nor really a judgment.  To call someone insensitive is name calling and judgmental.  Use some XYLASTIC protectionto mediate difficult situations and conversations.
