YOUR LIFE A-Z: OVER

THIS IS A GOOD HANG-OVER

OVER

“OVER” is used in many ways in the English language. Come OVER, is a casual invitation for you to join friend at his/her home?  Get OVER here is a command to a person or a pet to move in your direction right now.  OVER is often understood by the inflection in one’s voice.  Get OVER it is often used in a dismissive voice to yourself or other’s, basically saying, “I am tired of hearing it, so get OVER it already.”  In a work environment bosses are OVER employees.  That means the boss has the final say OVER any of your opinions or ideas.  OVER is an easy transition word marking the end of a game or conversation.  This is OVER, meaning finished.  OVER has another way of defining a place or object that you are referencing.  The book is OVER there.  Or, the book is OVER-rated.  That sentence implies that the reviews were hyped up about a book that did not add up in your eyes as being all that great.  Many people feel OVER-weight.  If you are one of those people that feel that way then take big steps to change that. OVER weight is dangerous to your health.  OVER is used in so many ways in the English language that it would be hard to communicate to each other without this important word, OVER.  Do not OVER cook the steak or do not OVER estimate the job are important reminders to keep us paying attention.  OVER and out.

YOUR LIFE A-Z:KIOSK

THE CENTER TELLS THE STORY
KIOSK
The word KIOSK is a Persian word that means a pavilion or garden area that is open on all sides.  That word seems fitting today because many KIOSKS make our life easier.  There are computerized ticket KIOSKS at the airport that move human traffic through the check-in lines much faster. There are breakfast KIOSKS in Europe that make it easy for fast paced train commuters to grab a bite before his/her commute. Magazine and news KIOSKS have been around many years making it easy to purchase something to read and now those KIOSKS suffer due to personal tablets that allow readers easy access to everything and anything they want to read.  KIOSKS make life easier and important needs and information readily available.  Think about your home as a KIOSK.  Organize departments in your home as if each department was a KIOSK.   For example, most of you have your jewelry stored in a KIOSK sort of way.  You open your JEWELRY box, draw, or stand and inside can view and choose your jewelry for the day.  Filing cabinets are your personal KIOSK for important papers, such as deeds, wills, medical information, and anything else that you don’t want to keep just electronically.  One day filing cabinets may go the way of newsstand KIOSK but for now they are still necessary.  Other areas in your home that are easy to KIOSK are your pantry, spices, and kitchen gadgets.  Think if you had a KIOSK for your keys, sun- glasses, and remote you would never have to go looking for any of those items again.  KIOSK your life!

YOUR LIFE A-Z:RENEW

DELIGHT IN THE ART OF LIFE

RENEW

RENEW that dream you put away.  RENEW a sense of delight in life.  RENEW is a word that implies starting over with a sense of force, new energy and a sense of direction.  RENEW is a way of saying yes to life.  One can restore a piece of furniture but one can also RENEW it.  Restoring a piece of furniture would mean returning it to its original state of being.  RENEWING a piece of furniture would mean to take a piece of furniture that is dull and useless and not only restore it but to take it beyond its original use.  For instance, if you turn a bar stool into a planter then you have RENEWED it into a creative, interesting and useful piece of furniture. Now, it is time to RENEW your daily life and add a sense of spice and useful creativeness to it.  You often here of people RENEWING their wedding vows or RENEWING their baptismal vows.  By doing this each participant is acknowledging that he/she has become dull and useless and now he/she is bringing to his/her relationship or spirituality a new self, a self, filled with zest for creativity and spontaneity.  Look around your environment and find something easy like a picture in a frame and either place a new photo in the frame or buy a new frame for the photo.  Notice how that makes you feel.  Then practice that same RENEWAL with something specific in your life.

YOUR LIFE A-Z USEFUL

If it is useful keep it ...if not recycle it.

USEFUL
Since we are still in the first month, look around your house, what is useful?  Start spring cleaning early.  Clean out an entire room.  Pretend you are moving.  Do you want to pack it or move it? Is it a dust collector even though it has some positive memory attached to it?

In today's easy photography world, snap an IPHONE pic of the item, sell it on E-bay and make a few bucks.  You can keep the picture and turn the item into productivity for you.  What is useful in your life and what is it that no longer serves a purpose?  What is sitting around and each time you pass by it, you say, "what was I thinking when I bought that?"  Obviously it is no longer useful to you.  Get rid of it.  You do not need junk to sit around for you to dust on Saturday.

Don't be afraid to let go of what is not useful to you. It is the same for jobs, friendships, relationships and anything else in your life that has become unproductive and/or a burden.  Let it go. Until you do, there will not be room for new art, life, or relationships in your life. You are not forced to continue to stay exactly where you are now.  Is it useful?  If the answer is "no," let it go.  Be useful or let go.  That is the new motto for today.
