YOUR LIFE A-Z: WHAT

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

WHAT?

WHAT do you really want? WHAT is a very important question that you must learn to sit with until you reach the clarity of an answer and develop vision for your life.  The word WHAT seems simple enough until you allow yourself to really answer this important question. WHAT do you really want? The TWENTY-MINUTE coach has talked about the important word WHY.  It might be important to go back and re-read that word while contemplating WHAT it is that your really want.  Sometimes if you do not take the time to examine why you want what you want, then the word WHAT becomes an invisible task- master, causing you to fret and worry about not getting something that you really didn’t want in the first place.  Knowing yourself and understanding that the “WHAT’S” in your life are important to you then increases your velocity to move toward your stated goal.  If your goal is lukewarm and birthed out of a should then your velocity to obtain your WHAT will remain at a slower speed than you need to change.   As you think about the WHAT in your life, it may be very helpful to create a vision board that allows you to experience the emotion of moving forward to your goal.  A vision board can help you clarify if you really want your WHAT or not.  Learning to let go of goals that do not serve us is as important and sometimes more important than creating goals in the first place.  WHAT I give you is permission to let go of your underserving WHAT’s in life. This important word WHAT needs to bring your joy.

YOUR LIFE A-Z: ATTAINABLE

ONE STEP AT A TIME STILL REQUIRES YOU STICK YOUR NECK OUT

ATTAINABLE
ATTAINABLE is something that is achievable and within possibilities. Sometimes you might be keeping yourself miserable because you are a daydreamer verses someone who has realistic goals.  Goals need to be attainable.  Your goals on your list need to be examined.  For instance, if your goal is to live in Costa Rica and you live with someone who hates bugs, tropics, and humidity then you need to ask yourself if you want to break up you relationship in order to move to Costa Rica? Thus, you must ask the cost of your ATTAINING your goal physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially and if you are willing to pay it?  How many things on your goal list are realistic or just something you want to drop into your lap?  Guess what, that is not what is going to happen.  Keep your goals ATTAINABLE.  ATTAINABILITY helps you feel good about who you are and the progress you are making in your life.  For instance if you need to lose 100 pounds, best lose it ten pounds at a time.  Then you feel a sense of pride, success, and motivated to continue.  As you are placing goals on your list, ask yourself how ATTAINABLE are they and when will it be ATTAINED.   Place some easy ATTAINABLE goals throughout your list to keep you moving toward goals that are more difficult to ATTAIN.  What do you want to ATTAIN in the next thirty days?  How will you do that and what do you need to make that goal ATTAINABLE?

YOUR LIFE A-Z EFFORT

TO GET TO THE RIGHT SPOT USE EFFORT

EFFORT

Effort is a word that can easily cause guilt so we have to be careful with this word.  Many of you may hear messages of parents or teachers saying to you, “You just don’t make enough EFFORT.”  From my point of view EFFORT IS EFFORT and “enough” EFFORT is an oxymoron.  Most dictionaries say that EFFORT is a vigorous and determined attempt, giving the example of hammering birdhouses to country fence posts in an EFFORT to bring back eastern blue birds.  Thus, EFFORT is an attempt to do something that has a clear and definable goal.  If you intend to make an “A” in a class and you make only a “B” then is that because you did not make “enough” EFFORT or just the fact that you did not plan or Tweak your intended EFFORT appropriately?  When you are not achieving your intended goal it is important to Tweak what you are doing, not just doing more of the same, if it is not getting you to your intended goal.  EFFORT requires honesty.  Do you really want to bring back bluebirds or is it just a nice idea?  Do you want that “A” for yourself or does the grading system just not matter to you?  Are you pleased with your outcome?  If so, that is “enough” EFFORT.  If you are not pleased with your outcome then Tweak your EFFORT. If you repeat your same plan it will result in the same outcome. It is important that you decide what pleases you and what honestly disappoints you in the outcome.
